Calicis

‘Calicis’ refers to the chalice shape of the sculpture. The chalice as a symbol of receptivity is surrounded by soft, yet distinctly organic lines and enclosed in curved surfaces. It is a naturally appearing form reminiscent of shell shapes. The translucent character of the alabaster creates a subtle but continuously changing play of light, adding an extra dimension to the sculpture. Depending on the angle and intensity of the light, ‘Calicis’ reveals new facets of its form. This dynamic play of light and shadow emphasizes the receptive nature of the chalice shape and invites the viewer to look and discover anew each time.
